Patron Pass Tour:
The Neo-Impressionist Collection
On February 11th, AFMO members returned to Musée d’Orsay for an exclusive tour of the museum’s Neo-Impressionist collection before the opening hour.
Led by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, Neo-Impressionism is characterized by its scientific approach to color and light. Unlike the fleeting, spontaneous brushstrokes of the Impressionists, Neo-Impressionist paintings are meticulously composed, captures light and atmosphere with precision, bringing artistic innovations, such as pointillism or divisionism. The movement was not just an aesthetic innovation but also a reflection of modernity, often depicting urban life, nature, and leisure scenes with an idealized, almost utopian vision. Its legacy extends beyond the 19th century, influencing movements such as Fauvism, Cubism, and Abstract art, making it one of the most intellectually and visually striking developments in modern art.
