Spring Trip to Nashville

In May, AFMO hosted a two-night trip in Nashville with curated art visits around town. Guests first had the option to meet for a VIP tour of the historic Ryman Auditorium located in the heart of Music City.

The trip then officially began with back-to-back private collection visits, followed by a guided tour of the art throughout Cheekwood Estate and Gardens, and a scenic cocktail reception overlooking the grounds.

The next day started with a VIP tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame followed by a private collection visit hosted by AFMO members, Judith and Joseph Barker. Guests were invited for a luncheon at the Frist Art Museum before heading to Fisk University to see the Aaron Douglas murals and its art gallery.

The trip concluded with a cocktail reception Marlene Hays hosted in honor of President Christophe Leribault at her home; it was a rare opportunity to honor the late Spencer Hays and his wife Marlene, who have bequeathed their superb art collection to the Musée d'Orsay. Suzanne Moore, AFMO board secretary, who is an expert on the Hays collection, gave our guests a tour and described the fascinating history of the Hays collection.

Warm thanks to Suzanne Moore and board member Frank Garrison, who were of great help in planning this trip.
