“Art in the Street” (Avant-Garde young patron tour) @Musée d’Orsay

  • Musée d'Orsay Esplanade Valéry Giscard d'Estaing Paris, IDF, 75007 France (map)

Art in the Street (L’art est dans la rue) is the first exhibition at the Musée d'Orsay devoted to the spectacular development of the illustrated color poster at the end of the 19th century.

Through a unique collection of works by the “Masters of the Poster,” it shows how this medium was elevated “to the rank of mural painting,” in the words of art critic Roger Marx. This dive into the golden age of the illustrated poster also examines the rise of consumerism and mass culture, of which it was both a vector and a symptom. Drawings, art objects, photographs, and paintings evoke the effervescent world of the street during the Belle Époque, whose image such posters helped to shape.

Please join us for an exclusive tour of Art in the Street on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.

Event reserved for young patrons in the AFMO Avant-Garde program.

All invitations are personal and non-transferable.
