AFMO Special Trip to Chicago

celebrating the Cezanne exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago

May 19-20, 2022

This spring, AFMO welcomed 15 guests to Chicago for an overnight trip with a full schedule of art visits. Guests had the option to participate in the premier River Cruise operated by the Chicago Architecture Foundation. The trip officially began with back-to-back, spectacular collection visits, including AFMO Board member, Ellen Sandor. The visits were followed by cocktails and an exclusive dinner at the historic Casino Club. The next morning, guests were treated to a private “before-hours” tour of the newly opened Cezanne exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago, with Gloria Groom as our guide; the group then visited the Impressionist collection and Thorne miniature rooms. Following our private morning at the Institute, Hindman Auctions hosted an elegant luncheon and presented antiquities and other works in their upcoming auctions. Following lunch, we had a special “sneak peak” into the couture closet. The trip concluded with one final private collection visit of Impressionist paintings and art deco furniture. Thanks to the generous help of our local AFMO Board Members, Margaret MacLean and Ellen Sandor, as well as the Christie’s Chicago team, many doors were opened to top collectors and the Casino Club during our time in Chicago.
