AFMO October Celebration!

On October 20 – 23, AFMO celebrated 30 years of the Musée d’Orsay and honored our patrons Marlene and Spencer Hays. On October 22, they announced to gift a significant part of their art collection to the museum; it is the largest collection donated to France since 1945.

U.S. Ambassador Jane Hartley welcomed us to her residence opening a weekend of privileged visits, cultural exchange, and friendship. Our guests enjoyed exclusive visits to the new Musée Rodin, the brilliant exhibition American Painting in the 1930s at the Musée de lOrangerie, and the recently restored Decorative Arts galleries at the Louvre.  Pilar and Pablo Molyneux opened the doors to their stunning home in the Marais on Friday, while Polissena and Carlo Perrone received us at their Château de l’Hermitage de Pompadour on Saturday morning.

Mellerio dits Meller, Jeweler of Queens since Marie de Medicis and L’École VanCleef & Arpels revealed the history and making of fine jewels, The Ritz Paris kitchen offered culinary insights and treats, and Thaddaeus Ropac welcomed us again for a private tour and brunch at his Pantin gallery.

A “walking lunch”  across the four stunning floors of La Pagoda, the former home of Chinese art merchant Loo, was another favorite, followed a few hours later by our gala evening at the musée d’Orsay:  A private tour of the Spectacular Second Empire exhibition, a cocktail with the participation of Le Bristol’s triple Michelin-Starred chef Éric Frechon, and dinner in the museum’s Belle Époque restaurant.

After breakfast at the Ritz, Amy Kupec-Larue led a private visit of the Château de Bagatelle and a sun-filled walk around its stunning gardens.
