The Land of Monsters. Léopold Chauveau (1870-1940)
Having worked outside the established circles, self-taught sculptor, illustrator and author Léopold Chauveau remained a little known figure in the arts until a recent gift from his grandson to the Musée d’Orsay (18 sculptures and 100 drawings). From his singular vision rise the mysterious monsters of his sculptures and illustrations. The exhibition provides fresh insight into the work of a wonderful creator, unjustly overlooked.
