2012 Gala Celebrates Impressionism & Fashion

The American Friends Musée d’Orsay (AFMO) is holding a Gala Saturday, September 29, 7:30 to Midnight, featuring a private viewing of the LVMH-sponsored exhibit, L’impressionisme et la mode.

The curators of the exhibition, Philippe Thiebaut and Guy Cogeval, will be in the exhibition galleries providing commentary of the paintings and related vintage men’s and women’s dress, photographs and prints of the era. Guests are encouraged to dress in fashion of the past or present to enjoy the festivities, which include exquisite food by renowned Paris caterer Potel & Chabot and live entertainment.

  • Museum President Guy Cogeval, and AFMO Board co-chair Peter J. Solomon will give the welcome toast
  • Orsay curators will offer guests one-on-one insight on the exhibition and permanent collection
  • A champagne dînatoire by famed Parisian caterer Potel & Chabot
  • Melody Federer from LA, will perform live Paris style swing-jazz

Funds from the 2011 Gala supported the restoration of the bronze Liberty Enlightening the World, recently installed in the Orsay’s central gallery. “Gala 2012 – Impressionism and Fashion” will afford notable dignitaries, American business leaders, leaders of prominent Paris- based American organizations, and luminaries of the arts and society an opportunity to celebrate the immense contribution of the Musée d’Orsay and its art to the lives of Americans.
