This summer has been chilly in Paris, but the AVANTgarde has been keeping things hot with two exclusive back-to-back events. First, a private, members-only event was organized in honor of visiting members from The American Friends of the Louvre with a luncheon at the gorgeous Petit Salon of the Musée d’Orsay. Also among the guests were two fascinating curators, Guillaume Faroult, Curator of American and British paintings at the Louvre, and Christophe Leribault, Director of the Musée Delacroix and Curator of Prints & Drawings. Needless to say, this was a treat! The two groups seamlessly mixed together, and AFMO generated a lot of excitement about our upcoming activities, especially Gala 2012.
The following weekend kicked off the inaugural, “Art in the A.M.” series at Gagosian Gallery. It was a unique Saturday morning event for our members to see the breathtaking gallery space and the challenging work of American artist, Dan Colen. Director Serena Cattaneo Adorno hosted a private tour of the gallery, giving her expert insight on the artist and his inspirations. The AVANTgarde refueled with fresh croissants and mimosas, made with champagne generously donated by our friends at Ô Chateau Wine Bar. Everyone agreed- it’s the perfect way to start a weekend in Paris!
